Downloading th app and signing in for the first time

Download the Element app from the store of your choice:
2. On the welcome page, click on I already have an account to sign in with your UniAccount.  Please note that the first time you sign in (i.e. when you create the account) you still need to click on Sign in. As the Matrix server is linked to the university's central identity management system, your Matrix account is explicitly created when you Sign in.
3. Click on Edit (1) next to the homeserver address matrix.org and manually enter the server address matrix.uni-freiburg.de (2). Then click on Confirm.

4. On the welcome page, click on Continue with Login Uni Freiburg. The “my-Login” page will then open in a browser window and you can log in as usual with your UniAccount (e.g. ab1234) and your password.
Allow the app and the website to share information about you. This is the standard My-Login page of the university, where you enter your Uni-ID and password as usual.

5. Another window will open. Confirm again by clicking “continue” to be automatically forwarded to your UniAccount.
6. After logging in on the UniAccount page, you will be redirected back to the Element app. You have now successfully registered.

 IMPORTANT:
Each time you sign in on a new device, you must first verify the new session. This can be done either via another device that is already signed in or via a key backup, i.e. an additional password that you specify. We therefore strongly recommend that you set up a key backup.
If you sign out of your only active Element session without having a second session open on another device or without having set up the key backup, your chat histories will no longer be visible when you sign in again!
