Learning Sequence
What is a Learning Sequence?
The "learning sequence" is an ILIAS object that you can use to provide learning content for students with a given structure. The learning sequence offers the possibility to put some ILIAS objects (e.g. file, test, learning module, survey etc.) in a predefined order for students. For the users of the learning sequence the learning path is always visualized on the page during the learning process. The learning sequence is one of the authoring tools ILIAS provides for the creation of learning content.
What can the Learning Sequence be used for?
The learning sequence is particularly suitable for learning phases in which the learners are supposed to work on contents in a self-directed way. The special feature of the learning sequence is that it offers the possibility to combine different ILIAS objects. This way, you can first provide content for learning the subject matter, such as a "learning module", and then use the ILIAS object "test" to test the newly acquired knowledge. From the students' (learners') point of view, a curriculum is displayed with these contents so that they do not have to navigate between different ILIAS objects.
The following ILIAS objects can be included in a Learning Sequence:

Example: Learning sequence on the topic "Fundamentals of Statistics - Basic Terms”
The topic "Statistics" is an important basic subject for many study programs. Especially in advanced degree programs (master level), students often come from different universities and therefore do not all have the same knowledge base on this topic. In order to compensate for this heterogeneity of the student body, an online course on this topic is provided.
Since the students in this online course have to work on the content in a self-regulated way, a special didactical planning is necessary. The learning sequence can support the didactic structure (self-study offer) of the online course. The online course can offer various "learning sequences" that offer content for repetition but also query this content with small knowledge tests to support learning. A learning sequence on the topic "Fundamentals of Statistics - Important Basic Terms" could be structured as follows:
