Our recently revamped ILIAS ‘Lernorte’ (Learnplaces) can be used anywhere where mobile access to location-based information is required. In practical terms, this means that e.g. an educational escape game or a self-guided tour can be implemented, in which learners use a progressive web app (PWA) in the browser of their own mobile device to navigate to predefined coordinates outdoors or scan QR codes attached indoors to unlock the information or materials stored at a Learnplace.

Etherpad is a collaborative writing tool that is particularly suitable for asynchronous group work: brainstorming, collecting ideas, drafting texts, etc. Etherpad offers a kind of digital notepad (1) with basic formatting options (2) on which several people, e.g., all group or course members, can write at the same time. It can be integrated into ILIAS courses and groups via “Add object”.

Behind the unassuming name ‘data collection’ lies one of the most comprehensive ILIAS tools. The collection offers an impressive range of possibilities, especially when it comes to clearly presenting a large amount of data records. List and individual views – similar to those found in online shops – allow users to quickly find their way around even without prior knowledge. They can filter existing entries according to their needs, make new entries and evaluate them with the help of form fields, or leave star ratings for others.

LiveVoting is an audience response system integrated into ILIAS. It provides lecturers and studends with ways to engage in conversation with each other in lectures, seminars, or workshops. LiveVoting can be used to ask questions, gather feedback, gauge moods, collect spontaneous ideas, and carry out challenges—all in real time.

ILIAS is equipped with a test and assessment tool that allows you to integrate formative assessments into your teaching with relatively little effort. Most of the many different question types can be evaluated automatically. Such assessments have many advantages for students, but also for you as a lecturer.

As part of the ‘4D – 4 Dimensions of Digital and Didactic Development’ project, ILIAS has been expanded to include a whiteboard object that significantly enriches university teaching in hybrid learning environments. The digital whiteboard allows multiple people to draw, write and exchange ideas in real time, regardless of their physical location. By promoting visual interaction and creativity, it facilitates the exchange of thoughts and concepts, thereby contributing to an overall improvement in the learning experience.

In the form of an ideas competition, the University of Freiburg would like to identify innovative and practicable ways in which the use of AI in teaching and teaching on the topic of AI can be established in the long term. All teaching staff (with the exception of the Faculty of Medicine) can submit ideas - either individually, in groups and/or together with an institution.

UPDATE: The survey is closed.

With ILIAS 9, the ILIAS object Wiki finally gets the multilingual feature: Wikis can now be created in several languages and no longer have to be created as separate language versions. This makes it much easier to create multilingual content in ILIAS.
