"Interactive Video" Feature to Be Disabled in August 2027
To ensure the long-term stability and future-proofing of the ILIAS platform, we will deactivate the "Interactive Video" object effective August 1, 2027. As of that date, it will no longer be available, and videos created up to that point will no longer be accessible.
Alternative Panopto

Instead, Panopto is being expanded as a long-term alternative for video management in ILIAS. With this object, you can use ILIAS to record videos, start a live stream, and upload media to make them available to students in your course. A core feature for interactive videos can also be easily implemented: The ability to embed quiz questions directly into videos to test learners' knowledge and encourage interaction. Panopto also offers a range of accessibility features: videos are automatically captioned, and it is possible to add audio descriptions.
Uploading New Videos to Panopto
We recommend that you start uploading your content to Panopto now. To do this, you’ll need to re-upload the original video files from your local hard drive or the location where you’ve saved them to Panopto. Unfortunately, there is no simple technical way to export the interactive videos that have already been created in ILIAS.
Support
You can find detailed information on how to use Panopto, as well as instructions, on the support page of the University Library, which operates the service: https://www.panoptosupport.uni-freiburg.de/
