Linking a Matrix account with ILIAS

Here you can find out how to link your Matrix account with ILIAS:

Only course participants who have specified a Matrix account in their personal ILIAS settings can be invited to a Matrix room via the chat function in an ILIAS course room.

The person who creates the chat room must also first connect the Matrix account to their own ILIAS account.

  1. You will find your personal settings in the top right-hand corner of ILIAS, behind your initials or behind your letter avatar.
  2. Then select the “Matrix chat settings”.

  3. Here you can choose between two modes:
     
    (a) [Normal case:] Connect your Matrix Messenger account of the server of the University of Freiburg https://matrix.uni-freiburg.de and the corresponding account name

    Please note: As with ILIAS, our Matrix server only recognizes people who have logged in at least once on the Matrix server and thus created their account there.

    (b) or select any Matrix account on any Matrix server (in the event that you have already been using Matrix "privately" on another server for some time and would also like to use this Matrix identity for university purposes)

  4. Click on the blue Save button.
