In Matrix, you can create spaces and rooms, for example for courses or departments so that you can organize chat communication by specific project and/or topic.

Chat conversations in Matrix are organized in rooms. It doesn’t matter whether communication is 1:1 or a group conversation.

Spaces allow you to organize many rooms at higher level. A space thus forms an overarching group that makes it possible to assign users and manage rooms so that they are easier for other people to find. If the content is relevant, a room can be added to several spaces.
