Precondition
What can the Precondition be used for?
With the help of the function "Precondition" the access to a course or to single objects of a course can be restricted to such users who have fulfilled certain performance requirements (e.g. "passed", "finished") in other learning objects (outside of this course).
Objects whose precondition(s) have not yet been fulfilled can either be completely hidden from users in the magazine or displayed (but not called up) with an appropriate note.
Preconditions can also be interchangeable, so that only an (arbitrarily composed) subset of them has to be fulfilled.
What should be considered?
In objects specified as preconditions, instructors must indicate successful completion using the Learning Progress feature so that the object is marked as "Passed" in Member Management and the learner can continue their learning process.
How does it work?

Preconditions that can be used to regulate access to a course are defined in the "Settings" tab in the submenu of the same name.
The availability of learning objects in a course (e.g. groups, learning modules, tests) can also be regulated using the "Precondition" function. To do so, select the option "Availability" in the "Actions" menu of the respective object:

There, select the "Preconditions" tab.
When creating a new precondition, you will get to an overview of the magazine, where all objects available on this ILIAS installation and accessible for you are now listed click-actively, which can be selected as precondition for participation in a course (tests, surveys, exercises, SCORM learning modules, courses).
Here, click the object that should act as a precondition and select a concrete condition.
