Folder
What is a Folder?
Folders belong (like courses, groups and categories) to the container objects on ILIAS. Therefore, they contain different contents and serve to structure courses and groups. There are two options when creating a folder: you can create a regular folder for filing or you can create the folder as an "upload" folder, so that students can upload their own files autonomously.
What can the Folder be used for?
- The use of folders is recommended for all courses and groups that contain more than a handful of objects. A folder can contain all kinds of subordinate objects: these include learning objects such as forums, wikis, and learning modules, but also other folders. Folders are therefore suitable for bundling offered content and presenting it in an orderly manner. You can use individual folders, for example, to organize all content of a course or group thematically.
- The option "upload" folder is useful if you want your students to be able to upload files on their own that should be visible to other course participants, e.g. handouts for presentations. If you want your students to upload tasks that only you can view, please use the object Exercise / Submission.
How does it work?
