Interactive Video
What is an Interactive Video?
The "Interactive Video" is an ILIAS object which allows you to supplement finished videos with interactive elements. This includes, for example, inserting questions into the video's play mode or activating a comment function for the learners.
What can the Interactive Videos be used for?
- In order to embed videos in a learning scenario in a didactically meaningful way, they should not be too long, otherwise the attention span of the learners will be exceeded.
- Furthermore, videos have the characteristic of presenting learning content very vividly, but they also tempt the learner into a kind of "consumerism". In some cases, this does not lead to the desired learning success.
Example: Complementing explanatory videos
Today's technical possibilities make it possible for many teachers to create their own learning videos or use videos from colleagues. Good explanatory videos (e.g. from the natural sciences) explain complex facts and convey important basics such as definitions of formulas or other technical terms. However, since this content consists of very condensed knowledge, it is advisable to interrupt this content with short questions in order to slow down the flow of information for the students and to test the presented content after a shorter time. This way, the students remain concentrated for a longer time while playing the video.
